It's hot and it's cold

The weather this winter here in NC has been unpredictable to say the least.  From what we hear this has been rather unusual and it has definitely kept us on our toes.  We have very easily found ourselves in scarves, jackets and gloves one day and then in flip flops later that same week.  While I am still extremely happy for our move here, I am ready for spring- and for it to stay nice for a while.  During some of these warm bursts we have definitely taken advantage of being outside and also just some time hanging out together in the house.  Spring officially begins this week, so I am hoping that I will be able to bring out my camera a lot more for some great outdoor activities and just all around comfort :)  I have fallen a little behind posting some of the warmer weekend pictures so here you go!

TROUBLE face

Snow snow snow and a little more snow!

Well unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure you have heard that our area (among many others) have been hit with a snow storm (Pax- and here us Floridians only thought they named hurricanes).  We definitely got it.  It started snowing yesterday afternoon very heavily (our area ended up with about 6") and that was then followed by freezing rain through the night to another close to 3" of snow again today.  Crazy I tell you- you look at the front of the house and can't tell where our driveway is vs the road vs the yard.  It is just white.  Not to mention earlier today it was heavy in ice.  With that all said I must still note that it is absolutely gorgeous.  There is definitely something picturesque about the snow.  I didn't venture too far out as I would have most definitely fallen but I was able to get a couple shots to share.  I hope everyone is staying warm out there though.  Enjoy!

Choo Choo

Our son has developed quite a large fascination with trains....and I use the word large loosely.  He runs around the house yelling Choo Choo and always has a train in hand.  We have been wanting to take him to do the Thomas train ride but in the meantime while my father-in-law and sister-in-law were visiting us (SIL got a new job up in NJ-Congrats!) we decided to spend some time at Pullen Park and ride the train that they have there.  It was a perfect day outside- you never would have guessed that we had about 3+ inches of snow just a matter of days before.  The kids had a great time and it was nice to spend some time with family.  I finally got my camera out again -it has been some time and felt good to use again.  Enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving (belated)

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving and (hopefully a long weekend to go with it).  We went over to the Waynesville area and had a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend with my husband's family (his grandmother, aunts, parents, sister, a couple cousins and even 2nd cousins).  It was a really great time and the kids had a blast especially playing in the left over snow on the ground.   It was even more special as h\the arrival of his parents and sister (from Florida) was a total surprise to us.  Everyone did a great job of keeping that secret and it just made the weekend even more special.
